shift column illumination
I have a 1979 Ford F-150 2WD with the 460 V-8/C6. The bulb is burned out that illuminates the PRNDL indication. The shifter is on the column, not on the floor.
Sorry to be so dim about this - thanks!
In case anyone else has this problem, the steering column has a plastic collar that covers up the steering column. It is held in place by four phillips screws. After removing the collar, I found the blue/red stripe wire. It had pulled out of the lamp socket. I purchased a "universal" light socket from Schucks, and canabilized the central wire connector. I spliced this to the existing wire.
Follow up question - the manual called for a 1445 bulb. This works, but is not particularly bright. A meter reading indicates +12 volts at the socket. My owner's manual calls for a "heavy duty 1 amp" 1445 bulb. Is there a special 1445 bulb for this application?
