F250 4x4 Master Cylinder Replacement

I'm back again, trying to get the brakes operational on my truck. Per the advice from my last post, I'm not going to replace the brake booster. I purchased a new Cardone master cylinder. I referenced their website and purchased the one for 4wd drums/power brakes. It is significantly larger than the current M/C. That is a rebuilt one that I bought awhile back on RockAuto, but was the same size as the M/C I took off the truck last year. The bigger one does seem like it'll bolt up to the brake booster, though. What do you guys think?

Next, I have an issue with the fittings to attach the hard lines to the M/C. The fitting on the rear brake line is larger than the other. I can't seem to find an option that both fits the hard line and threads into the M/C. The middle one in the picture below is the larger one. The two on the outside are the same size and fit the front brake hard line. Oddly enough, the big one will thread into the smaller ones. Would it be a problem to have two fittings threaded together to attach the hard line to the M/C?

First off, I think ( I have been wrong before) the port that is nearest the firewall is for the front brakes. Most of the time that fitting/line is larger. It may not be a problem, but the local parts shops should have a single adapter for you. Just make sure that you take in the Master Cylinder and the adapters that you have. The less fittings the better off you will be.

Gary, the reservoir closer to the firewall is for the front brakes. It's also the larger of the two. What I was having trouble adapting was the rear brake line. After spending a lot of time thinking about it I had a realization...the threaded fitting on the hard line might just thread directly into the M/C instead of going through one of those brass fittings. It would explain why all of the M/Cs I've seen only ship with one fitting (for the front brakes). I have been assuming that things were correct in the first place, which I probably shouldn't do for a 50 year old truck. It was already getting dark yesterday once I figured it out, so I'll get things bolted up this week and see how it goes.

OK, I see, says the blind man. I skipped over in your post about the rear brakes. I should have just went out and looked at my truck. But it's about 17 or 18 deg right now. So I was trying to find those memory cells- I think they are in a drawer somewhere-lol.

I had a chance to speak with the former owner. He just used the fittings necessary to get a new M/C hooked up. This was back in the day so I'm guessing he went to Napa and figured out something that worked.

Sounds just like my Dad. But surviving the great depression made millions of people do things the McGivor way, so I can understand.
