Crew Cab Stick Trucks?

I’m in the market for a 250/350 4x4. I love a regular cab truck but with two kids in gigantic car seats, the crew makes more sense.
Problem is I want a crew with a manual transmission. I’ve found several regular and extended cabs, but not crew. On top of that, I want a gas truck, preferably the 5.4. I am not towing much, but simply like the look of the SD ability to haul a ton of gravel without breaking a sweat.
Ford broshures say they were available 1999-2008. Anyone driving a crew cab stick truck to prove they actually exist?
I would buy a new one if that were an option. It’s stupid they don’t offer a new one. They’ve lost a sale, and that means lost money. I don’t want to jump into Dodge camp...

no one want a manual anymore. except a few like me and you...
50 years of manual transmissions..

they are out there.. becoming more RARE every day...

market trend... diesel, 4x4, AUTOMATIC...loaded

took me months just to find a 2011-2014 "XL" Gas, 2 wheel drive..

look into the used semi-truck dealer lots.. for fleet / lease trade-ins. that is where I found mine.

As stated above, they're out there, but they're very hard to find (as you've discovered). If you can't find one, there's always the option to swap from an auto to manual. However, it'd be a lot easier to just buy one already equipped with a manual, probably cheaper too.

Manual Transmissions were available through 2010 in the Super Duty lineup. I would imagine that it will be very hard to track down the exact truck you are looking for since those who have a manual are less likely to be getting rid of it since it can't be replaced with a new one. There is a dealership that gets a bunch of old forest service trucks and sells them. I want to say they are based in either New Mexico or Arizona. That may be your best bet to find a manual transmission in a crew cab.

I looked for months and months to find a regular cab XLT with a stick... a CC will be hard to find with one unless you get into the F450+ flatbed
range.

For what it's worth, after 2 years of ownership and driving it, my biggest regret is not buying an automatic instead.

I bought a 2009 CCLB v10 4x4 w/ 6sp last year, they are hard to find especially in good condition without 300xxx miles on the od, but it is possible. I looked for six months and I ended up with a forest service truck that I bought out of Minnesota from a truck dealer that bought it from the government in Colorado. Most of the trucks you will find will also be xl tirm levels with little options. Diesel are more prevalent with the manuals and gasses are more rare but I wanted no part of a 6.0 or 6.4 diesel, to many horror stories. Use the searchtempest web site (Craigslist but you can search multiple cities) and narrow down your filters and search nation wide then save your search and check it daily. They are out there it just how far are you willing to drive. Also the forest service auctions off their trucks on the GSA auctions web site , hope you like the color that they painted them though its kind of an aqua marine green ( I get a lot complements and people interested in it all the time.) If you want a nice one with low miles you are probably going to pay top dollar don't expect a deal because they are fairly uncommon, I paid right at blue book price. they also are not fast selling for the most part I've seen a lot of them sitting around on lots for awhile, they where to far or not what I wanted ( I had to have a long bed) but don't hesitate if you find the right on because I've also seen them sell in hours.
good luck

Thanks for the replies. So they are out there. When I see one for sale, it’s time to jump on it.
I have seen the forestry service trucks on eBay before. Green is my favorite color! Not quite that shade but it is an option.
A friend has a ‘00 F350 regular cab DRW 4x4 XLT. Only 56k, and it’s a 7.3L/manual. He wants $20k, which is high but fair in my book. But it’s not the right truck for me with the cab, DRW, and diesel. Make someone a good truck though.

Assuming the mileage reflects the overall condition, $20k for any 4x4 7.3 truck with 56k on it is a good deal.

I never realized how scarce these were. I did a nationwide search on Autotrader, any mileage, any body configuration, 2005-2010, 5.4. I got nine results. The funny thing was that NONE of them had manual transmissions. They had the manual 4WD shift lever. You had just as well go searching for bigfoot. It's no surprise to me that Ford quit making them. It appears the almost non-existant demand for them wasn't worth it.

If I remember right when Ford quit putting manuals in they said only 4% of the pick-ups were ordered with them. I do believe that included F150s. So a CCB 4X4 manual gasser would be a very rare bird.

If it's gonna be a long term truck I'd suggest planning on buying one configured with the options you want, other than the tranny, and swap in a stick shift. Otherwise, like has been said, you'll most likely end up with a stripped down service / fleet truck in order to get a gas /stick combo. Also, being patient and searching these brand specific forums for sale sections can turn up an already swapped truck.

Yes sir on the Auto Trader... the dealers don’t know how to list their trucks. I am set up for email alerts for semi-local trucks. Got one this morning, figures the day after I make this post. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...CALERTSEMLSRCH
Doesn’t quite hit the right buttons for me (color and fender flares that scream hide rust). But it’s out there!
I wish I had time to manual swap a truck, but I’ve got more than enough projects already. Buying a swapped truck is something I’d consider.

No more manuals in the new Dodge /Ram introduced a few weeks ago, either.

Ford Product Planning used to refer to manual trans truck buyers as bottom feeders, as most manual transmissions went into stripped work trucks. Not much margin on those trucks compared to the loaded cowboy Cadillac models.

lack of a manual hasn’t seemed to affect sales and market share, and now that the competition has dropped the manuals, your only choice is aging used trucks.
