Called dealer today about oil change and fuel filter change. Quote comes back at $130 for oil change and $360 for fuel filters. Now, oil change is a bit steep, can get filter and oil for about $100. But the fuel filters are $68 on amazon for both. Or am I missing something?
I pay under 55.00 for the filters from a online ford dealer. That price is outrageous. Motorcraft Fuel Filters
Exactly. I know the dealers have to make money, but seriously is it $300 worth of labor? I’ve never done one as this is my first diesel, but I can get a transmission rr’d for $350 from a local guy.
Sad part is, they charge that much and the tech makes 15 bux.... i agree it should be illegal what they charge for labor. Only people making money at the dealerships is the dept. heads. Its STUPID what kind of bonuses they get here in Houston....
so if everyone wants a new truck and wants majority of the hold back so they barely make a profit, this is the result.. if they are not going to get it from a sale of a truck, they are going to get it on the service side. They have to make money some how.

This is correct. There is no money in new car sales now adays. The market is too competative. Service and preowned keep the doors open. If its a small dealership with soft preowned sales, service is what keeps it rolling.
My truck was in for warranty work this week. They said I needed to change my cabin filter and it would be $89.95. This is a $15 filter and takes literally 5 minutes to change. What's even funnier is I had just changed this filter 8 days before. They hadn't even looked at the filter. The did want to do an oil change also, which I had just done. They only wanted $139.95 to do it. I don't see that as such a bad price, but I change my own oil.

yep I have less an issue on the oil change price. Time to do my own stuff is not a luxury I have these days. But I’ll be doing my own this time. I do all my boat maintenance also since it’s cheaper and much less time involved.
Not a ford related, but i was working the service drive at my Acura dealership yesterday, and i was listening to a service writer inform a customer that it was going to be $937.00 to replace the alternator on his 2013 MDX......a thousand dollars for an alternator replacement......on a six year old car....A THOUSAND DOLLARS. To replace a $200 part.......literally insane....
I just looked up my most recent fuel filter change on my PSD from Jan 15, 2019. $90 in labor. $117.73 in parts. Total was $226.26 with shop supplies and that included a "free" multi point inspection. My dealer charges $146 per hour labor.
So while it seems I'm paying way too much for parts they are not ripping me on labor.
Not sure what city the OP is located in but these prices are at my dealer in St Louis.

I've found it doesn't take me any longer to do it myself than to go and sit at the dealership waiting on them. Plus there is the benefit of being under the truck and looking for any other issues.

Fuel Filters are $52.79 from Rockauto plus shipping so $60 shipped and 15 minutes of work. They are making theirs for sure
