2005 SRW F350 4X4. Doing rear brakes now. Noticed gear oil seepage. Gonna change seals. Got the 2 inner seals, special socket for spindle nut. Any gasket for the axle to hub surface? What seals the oil in on the outer part of hub? Torque for spindle nut and axle to hub nut? Thanks guys
10.5 axle
The axle is o-ringed, no paper gasket. The axle nut is a ratcheting 2 piece nut one being a right hand thread and the other side a left hand thread. They are marked RH or LH. You may need a puller to remove the hub.
To install torque the special nut down to 60 lbs ft. Then if it's the original bearings, loosen it 7 clicks, or 5 clicks for new bearings. Then before re-installing the axle add about an ounce of new gear oil 75w140 syn. to the hub cavity. Reinstall axle shaft torque to 80 lb. Ft.
