Cold start engine light

When my truck is not warmed up to operating temperature and I start it, the engine light stays on but goes off within a mile of driving. There are no codes being set. I have noticed a little higher idle than normal when driving until the engine gets up to operating temperature. I have also noticed that the truck doesn't bust off to start aggressively...meaning it rolls into a start instead of starting with an explosion so to speak. I just cleaned the back pressure sensor and tube after noticing the jet engine sound not coming in when colder and thought that would clear things up. I may pull the battery cables and see if this helps today and see what happens in the morning.

‘How old are the batteries? I’d get them load tested, if they test bad or one does replace them both with 850 CC amp batteries. How long are you letting the GPR activate before you try and start the truck? If you’re in a cold climate your EBPV is keeping the idle higher to warm the truck up. How are you regarding codes?

Batteries are approximately 2.5 years old and are 1,000 CC amp batteries. I have an ear for when they start to fail and these don't fit the bill, but will check them out. I let the GPR activate until the Wait to Start light goes out then I engage. I am in Houston, Texas so not all that cold. I am reading codes with a SCT module. The SES light did this last year from what I remember but was fine during the warmer months.

In case you didn't know, the "Wait To Start" Light has nothing to do with how long the GPR activates. Click on the "Wait To Start Light link in my signature. You may need to let it warm up a bit longer before engaging it ... especially when the temps drop a bit. (I realize its not that cold where you are ... at least not as cold as the temps in the more northernly climes). Good Luck sorting it out.
