There is a connection on my friends explorer, that simply looks like it exploded off. The hose is running up from a manifold of some sort that is tied in with the exhaust on the driver side of the motor. The hoses run from a manifold that is tied in with the exhaust, to a unit that has a electrical connector on it. One of the hoses at that unit, looks like it blew off, melted plastic everywhere, the other hose is split for two inches. The manifold the hoses come out from is before the O2 sensors, and it has some diaphram with a green line running to the unit with the adjusment **** described below. I am assuming the unit is some sort of EGR since it is using the exhuast gas, but what I can tell is what the functions of the hoses that blew off.
It appears that the electrical connector then goes to another electrical connector with a black adjusment **** just behind the first electrical unit. Anyone know what this unit is for and what might be the cuase? He said he did some hard driving yesterday, and on the way to work his check engine light came on. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, I am not too familiar with ford engines as you can probally tell.
