lift question

I'm thinking about getting a lift for my 79 f-150 4x4 and i was wondering how high a lift i could get and still use the stock driveshafts. Also, what else would need to be changed/modified with a lift kit.

6" suspension would be max from my knowledge without haveing to extend drive shafts mod wise: radius arm drop brackets, brake lines (if needed), shocks, drop pitman arm, axle pivot drop brackets ...i think thats about it on suspension you could give body lift as well thats a whole new story though

There aren't axle pivot brackets on a 79. You will need a drop track bar bracket or an adjustable track bar. Longer shocks too.

I really know nothing about suspension lifts, so as dumb as this sounds, where can i find longer shocks? I've noticed in summit magazines it doesnt have shock sizes.

Many kits come with the correct shocks (most if not all, I thought)
