New From Florida- 1981 F100
Hello all,
I just purchased a 1981 Ford F100 Custom today (well yesterday technically) as a project truck. I've always wanted a vehicle to learn to work on, and I finally made the leap. It is a 2WD, regular cab, long bed, 4.9L I6 truck. The guy I bought it from only had it 2+ years and didn't know much of the history, but said it was originally a Pennsylvania truck. It couldn't have been there long because there is not excessive amounts of body rust and underneath is pretty clean. My budget list of things I'd like to accomplish on it are: Remove all of the surface rust, repair/replace any mechanical components to make it run better (already runs surprisingly well), as well as minor interior and exterior refreshes/upgrades. Money is no object additions to that list: completely restore interior with upgraded seats, 100% fix all body work, paint it flat grey, put a big V8 in it, drop it on airbags, and nice wheels and tires.
