Anyone running these on their truck? These are what I'm looking at putting on my truck. U.S. Mags 15" x 7"
I've seen alot of the old style slot mags on trucks but not these. Are they polished aluminum or chrome plated? They look nice, i think they would look good on a F1
Slotted mags are a timeless look. I rant them on my truck for a long time. I switched over to Cragar SS wheels for awhile, then back to the slotted mags.
I eventually found a set of the factory Ford slotted mags that came on trucks and vans in the late 70's early 80's. Here some shots through the years;
I have always been a fan of slots and Cragar s/s. wheels. Trying to make decision on wheels was just as hard as choosing color for the truck. I finally went out an bought Ford race red base/clear paint. Truck is not put together yet. Chassis is 99% finished, need shocks and e-brake cable. Cab is close for paint as well as the bed. Fenders are in epoxy still, need to take out the small dents. May check with Discount Tire for the wheels and tires next week for price. Wan to buy as much as I can while the money is still holding up.
Yes I also had a time deciding on wheels with my limited choices because of offset . I definitely lean towards the old school style wheels and ended up going with a chrome torque thrust but there's nothing wrong with a nice slotted mag IMHO .
1977/81 F100/150 & E100/150 // 1978/81 Bronco. F150 4WD & Bronco use different front hub caps.
The chrome plastic hub caps are retained to the wheel with 3 chrome screws (389465-S45) and nylon anchors (D7TZ-1A100-A). The screws thread into the anchors causing them to expand.
But if the hubcaps are R&R'd several times, the nylon anchors no longer expand properly, so when you whiz around a corner, the hubcaps could fly off, taking the screws and anchors along with them.
Clamp your hand on the hubcaps, then see if you can wiggle them. If so, it's time to replace the anchors, otherwise...
All the parts are obsolete, but the screws and anchors are available NOS
Slotted mags? Never on my truck.... But I had some on my 57 Chevy when I was in college.
But.... truth be told, I also had a pair of old Cragars on the front. Remember, I was in college and poor. The Cragars came with the 57 when I bought it. It had a big pair of slicks on the rear. So my brother loaned my a pair of AP Slots for the rear. It didn't look too bad.
These are some of the best pictures I have of that black 57 Bel Air. What a lot of fun!
Back in the day, my favorite wheel was (and still is) "Western Bullets". Had them on one of my Model A's as well. No longer made, can still be found though crazy expensive. If I was wealthy, I'd be running them on my current Truck. I remember I painted the inside of the slots to match the body color. It was a masking PITA.
