I think BigTruckBigRV did a review of the Goosebox on his YouTube channel.

When I traded my F350 for my 3500 Ram I had two choices.......Buy a new 5th wheel hitch to fit the Ram, or switch to a goosebox since the Ram had their factory hitch prep. So with that, I went to the Goosebox. After I got it installed, I backed under my trailer to seed how things looked for level, bed clearance, etc. Blah, blah, blah!! LOL Anyway, I thought as long as I was hooked up anyway, I might as well make a little trial run. So I headed down our little 2 lane paved county highway, crossing a couple of cattle guards @ 50 MPH. Made about a 30 miles test run and I was very impressed! The ride was fantastic!
Of course, this is a pretty short time to give a long term review, bit it is the best I can do for now.
And just FWIW, I opted the spend the few extra dollars and get the B&W ball to fit the Ram. It has a handle to lift it out of the socket, which also unlocks the ball from the socket at the same time. The only downside that I can see is that it is a little more of a PITA to hook up.

I have seen both the Big Truck and IRV2 comments along with a couple of other videos. My truck is a new body style Ford with the short bed and am looking to see if all is good with that set-up. It looks like the perfect way to free up bed space for full time camping. Thanks for the feedback.

Another reason I did what I did......my back is old, and a 5lb goose ball is a hell of a lot easier to lift out of the bed of my truck than ANY awkward 5th wheel hitch. PERIOD.

Love the Reese Goosebox

I have been towing with the Reese Goosebox for 3 years now. I like it so much I want to take it to the next 5th wheel I buy if the dealer won't include one as part of the deal. Smooth ride, easy hookup, more space in the truck bed, and no effort to use the bed for big items when unhitched. The only negative I have is that Reese builds them in batches, and I had to scour the country to find one when I decided to purchase one.

For those that have difficulty seeing the ball in the bed when backing to the hitch, I suggest an inexpensive mirror that mounts to the hitch. It allows you to see the bed of the truck to align the ball.

Thanks for the reply Sloate. How much difference in ride height of the 5er did you notice with the Goosebox over the previous pin box?

By following their instructions to install the Goosebox one set of holes lower than the old kingpin box, the ride height stayed the same. I have the B&W underbed gooseball installed in my truck, and they make a taller ball for those that have a clearance problem that can't be resolved by adjusting the box install position in the wings.

I have a Goosebox and am very happy with it. Biggest con is it is hard to line up. Otherwise works and rides great.

Just an update. Looks like the Goosebox may be out of the picture due to the trailer manufacturer stating the warranty wouldn't cover any damage to the frame. Maybe look at a different 5er or a different hitch that would suit our needs. Luckily we haven't bought either yet.

Which trailer manufacturer? As I recall, Lippert said they would cover frame issues under warranty if the Goosebox is used. Lippert owns Reese.

Lippert doesn't own Reese but they do endorse the Goose Box. I called Lippert a few weeks ago with a question about the Goose Box and was told Reese was a separate company with no affiliation with Lippert. Reese is owned by Horizon Global Corp. Reese

I too would like to know the trailer manufacturer, it could be a case of someone not knowing what a Goose Box is.

Thanks for the correction. There was a pinbox provider that ended up being owned by a frame/component manufacturer. I tracked it down about a year ago, but still can't remember who it was.

This document linked below implies (rather explicitly) that Lippert will accept the Goose Box should there be warranty claims on the frame.

After reviewing the Bosch Test reports for the Reese Goose Box, Lippert Components, Inc. (the world’s largest manufacturer of RV frames) accepts the Goose Box for the towing of RVs with gooseneck hitches. In fact, the Goose Box is the first RV gooseneck hitch adapter to be accepted by a RV frame manufacturer. “The Goose Box is a great solution for fifth-wheel RV users who prefer to use gooseneck hitches,” said Jason Lippert, CEO of Lippert Components. “We are very pleased with the results of the thorough testing of the Goose Box, which demonstrates that it is compatible with our RV frame. As a result, the pro
