Have had NO noises from this truck… Yesterday I am driving thru a parking lot ,make a turn and it sounds like I am dragging something metallic, drive it over to a clear area and find no drips, nothing being dragged, this is happening while truck is under power- acceleration, not while driving down road… I am at this point 95 miles from home -I call AAA, live in a very rural area, worried who to take this to, what is it causing this truck has 125K v8,5.3 automatic 4WD, has never towed anything, rarely use 4WD. Help…please only vehicle

 

Is something laying against the driveshaft?
Parking brake shoe hold down spring could've broke.

 

Well, after many you Tube Vides, mostly with the Ford Loco guy, we figured it wasn't the heat shield but rather the IWE hose had popped off the (thingy) ,
sorry for the technical language here. Being able to take it out on our very quite road, changing up from 2wd to 4wd is the real clincher for this noise, oh and having all the windows open and having hubby drive and me listen for the sound is what made the difference. So VERY HAPPY that he thought to have me turn the tires full lock and thats when he saw the hose had popped off.
To think that we were thinking that we would have to throw this truck away and find something else FAST !
