low oil pressure

My 4.6 L engine is starting to develop lower oil pressure than normal. It is still in the normal range but at that low end.

What causes this. I was thinking sludge in the pan .

Should i flush the engine and What should I use?
I was told a cup or disel fuel and run for 20 minutes at idle and then drain.

What does anyone think?

Thanks

How are you checking the oil pressure? The factory gauge doesn't actually show oil pressure. It just goes up whenever there is enough pressure to keep the light off. I am assuming this is in a truck?
Ususally low oil pressure is from added clearance from bearing wear. There is usually no quick fix for lack of pressure.

If you decide to flush the engine (not a bad idea to do occassionally) I have found the best to use is B12. Make sure you add a seal softening stop leak afterwards, nearly all engine flushes (including diesel) will dry out seals over time. If you have a dirty sensor this might help, if you have lots of wear at least your engine will be some what clean when you tear it down eventually.

For a safe engine flush use a product called Auto-Rx...see

lots of good info there for gearheads about lubrication and related matters.

Yes you need to get exact pressure readings don't go by the factory idiot gauge

How many miles on engine?
as stated bearing wear is a cause

The bypass spring in the oil pump becomes weak or partially stuck open.

personally I don't believe in flushes.

What weight oil being used and filter
