Hey guys, anyone in Southern California (Long Beach area) interested in a bakflip MX4 for a super duty short bed? One of the attachment bolts got jammed so I had to grind off the plastic piece of the bolt to release it from the rail. Before I figured that fix out BAK sent me a whole new cover and rail assembly.
Should be able to just find another bolt w/ the same thread and install no problem but now I have no need for the one I removed. BAK didn't ask for it back or to be destroyed and I hate to just throw it away - anyone want it for $150?
I wouldn't get rid of it just yet. BAK may still want that back. Of course they might send out a pick-up notice to a carrier and not tell you (it happened to me). If you don't have that cover to send back, they could bill you again.
Nice man. I thought I got a good deal on my MX4. It's a good cover and looks great on the truck. I wonder if they would do the same for an 8 year old BakFllip G2? The rear rib (the one that holds the back of the cover to the truck!) is broken on it. It doesn't fit on my new truck anyway, but it would make it easier to sell!

I appreciate the thought - been a while now since this was all resolved... Getting tired of moving it from my truck bed to my garage and vice versa as we need space, lol.
If Bak does not want it back, I will give you $150 for it.
Thanks,
Jack
Hi Jack.. I'm on mobile currently and can't seem to find the pm feature... I'll shoot you a message tomorrow to exchange numbers if you're still interested
Same thing happened to me, they never asked for the cover back. they seem to give out replacements instead of trying to figure out the issue. My replacement was damaged in shipping so i ended up modifying the rail on my original one to make it fit correctly. Replacement did not fit any different. My issues was the two mounting bolt holes in the cover did not align with the hole in the rails (bed was narrow I think). I made the holes in the rail larger and added a fender washer. I asked the customer service for what the measurement should have been on my truck and what should be on the cover and never got an answer that helped. I guess the cost of them from China is low enough it doesn't pay to get them back.
I got the Truck Gear version of BakFlip MX4 for my truck when I got it Line-X'd. Both are guaranteed for life. Anything goes wrong with either and all I have to do is take it into any Line-X dealer.
Hmmmm, I wonder if any of these issues are related to an issue I reported to them months ago. If the internal cables get crimped on upside down, they can catch and get stuck. I contacted Bakflip and send photos. They acknowledged the issue but didn't seem to care about fixing it. They simply said they would provide the image to "quality". I ended up fixing them all myself by cutting some of the plastic.
