As much as I need and want a toolbox, I can't give up the bedspace. All of my straps, tools, and recovery items are under the back seat. And yes, if I had to buy one for work, it would be a Weatherguard. If you aren't in and out of it a lot, I'd save the cash and go with a cheaper one.
ATC Crazy, which underseat storage did you go with...I have asked here on FTE and compared manufacturer sites, it is a tough decision but I think I am leaning toward the Husky 09281...it appears to be more shallow than the Du-Ha, but they also illustrate floor to seat so that should be a constant dimension (maybe the exact unit is not illustrated after I plug-in my details)...thank you.
I have had them all. Weatherguard is the best...... but stupid expensive. Their low end defender series is a joke compaired to the high end boxes they sell. Wouldnt even spend money on one. I am currently running a UWS and i am very satisfied with what i got for my money. For its price point the UWS is great. I use it daily. I had a deezee chest in my last truck and that box was great! If you put anything other than a socket set and a set of jumper cables in your tool box, you need to consider spending money on a decent box. I’ve had the cheap ones....... they’re cheap for a reason..... the aluminum is paper thin now adays. Like ridiculously paper thin. If theft is a concern buy a steel box
i have two Highway products tool boxes in my truck a chest type and a fifth wheel partner tool box. Both are bulletproof and awesome. The partner tool box has been in 4 different trucks and is good as new.

Sorry I can't be of much help, but the stock setup works for me:
I have never needed a toolbox but am at the point now. Notice you can go from a couple hundred big box brand to a $1k high end, but not seeing any huge differences. I like to think of myself as a minimalist so low profile will probably be my preference but any other must have options and brands recommended? Pics are always welcome!
this weather guard is on my second truck. the latch assembly fell apart cause i jammed too much crap in there and it shifted. had to pry the box up and cut the lock, replaced the lock and its still rocking. Sits below the bedrails. Its bolted through the bed with heat shrink on the threads that touch the bed to avoid any weird **** with aluminum.
I have had several Tractor Supply boxes and ones of their quality standard over the years. I had one that I talked into swapping out because the powder coating started peeling off. I had a body shop replaced one when their guy stepped on it doing some pdr when I had my 13 SRW. On my 16 F350 SRW. I transferred it’s replacement from body shop. By the time I traded in the truck for my 17 the passenger side latch was broke. The lid held water from pushing down on it to latch it. They would not replace it when it broke. I let the broken box go with the truck. I then ordered a Weatherguard chest when I got my 17. I had it in for nearly a year and a half before I got a Bakflip F1 this Christmas. My wife and son were trying to get me to sell it or mount it on one of the trailers. I unmounted it and shrink wrapped it and put it in my building behind house. I told them I have been through many different ones that are junk and will keep this just one Incase I ever want to go back to a tool box. I figure as long as I drive larger trucks that is the last box I will ever purchase. I loved the locking mechanism, strength of the box and lid as well as the black finish that has held up well.
i know several people with different Weatherguards and have never heard one of them complain.
My particular tractor Supply box is beat at around 5 years and 2 trucks. Latch mechanism started needing attention around 2 years in. It will go with this truck when i sell it in a few weeks but I’ll adjust the latches for the new owner so it works ok.
The top holds water for sure now as it’s bowed.
I don’t know how many pallets have bumped it (inexperienced forklift drivers wanting to get that extra inch).
Its a good cheap option if you aren’t trying to win any status with your truck buddies. I live in downtown and it’s never been broke into and I don’t care as I only keep random junk in there so i can punchout Constrution projects and I also keep my straps in there so they’re not blowing around.
On a side note it still looks nice on my black truck with black diamond plate bed/tailgate rails. Even with a faded tractor supply emblem...
Weatherguard, Highway products, or Rawson Koenig....yes there is a diff, esp if you keep for a long time....i regret letting my old RKI go with my last truck and i dont even own a truck currently...
