i was looking at the post about the vin and i noticed my information isn't on it. where would i be able to find the info on mine? i have a 1997 f250hd. thanx.

I haven't found a real good all-inclusive VIN decoder for our trucks. But, you might try a carfax report and see how close it is.

i was mainly just trying to figure out the axle type and the differential type.

That information is not encoded within the VIN. You need to provide the info from the placard located on the driver's door jamb.

Rear axle is a full-floating Sterling 10.25".
Front axle (if 4WD) is a Dana 50 Twin-Traction Beam

Will need info from door placard to determine gear ratio & whether it has 'limited slip' or not.
