Wheel Bearing Help

Fellas

I'm not sure whether i'm just stupid or dumb. I need to order new hub bearing assemblies for my 2004 F350 but am having some trouble with the part numbers. I would prefer Motorcraft as i'm ordering from WBL but even on there I'm not sure what part number is correct.......I see there are differences in coarse and fine thread pitch. I just took a picture of my wheel studs that are currently on my rig and uploaded. Would definitely appreciate the help.

I went through this same issue when I did the kids truck a few years ago.
Finally figured out that, on at least the early build 6.0's, it's the fine thread you are after. I think the switch came in 05.
The Timken # that I used was SP580205, the Ford equivalent to that would be 3C3Z1104BA

Those definitely look like fine thread pitch. I’m pretty sure coarse threads (14x2.0) were used through 2002, and in 2003 Ford went to the fine pitch (14x1.5)

Thank you guys so much! I will be ordering the part number 3C3Z1104A. This is apparently the replacement for the part number given above by Navistarnut.

You want the fine threads and if its 4x4, make sure you replace the hub seals... large rubber o-rings that go on the hub. There are two of them, one on the bearing, one on the hub.

This should be interesting. In my notes I have:

Pickups
1999-04 M14-2.0
2005-08 M14-1.4 (New axles, rotors, calipers)

Excursion
All years M14-2.0

I ain't checking with a thread gauge whats on my '03 at this time of night.

My 05 Excursion has fine thread, as does a friend’s 04 F250. My first exposure to coarse thread came from working on someone’s 02 F250. My interest was piqued, so I started researching online, not that that’s definitive. But it seemed 02 and older were coarse, 04 and newer were fine, and 03 was mostly fine but a bit of a mixed bag. So I’m guessing the switch happened sometime between 02 and 04. Maybe the switch coincided with the F250’s and F350’s going to a D60 front axle? Frustrating thing (for me partswise, at least) is the 05 Excursion is a mix of the 99-04 and 05 trucks.

Just checked, my end of May 2003 build with D60 axle has 1.5 fine threads.

Time to erase that note.

That note has a file date of only a few years ago, not from any engineering notes from a dozen years ago. I don’t remember what prompted the change. I would have expected way earlier, like with the change in hubs and rotors, or the ‘05 change in brakes and axles. I remember there was a change in lug nut torque too, again too many cobwebs or death by loniless for that detail.

And if you look up the 05 and later they use a different part# again......just to makes this more confusing.

I think I now remember where I got the note's data from, looking up lug nuts on RockAutos site for different years of the Superduty. This comes up every once in a while I I think I remember creating the note from their designations.

Second cup of coffee this am.

05 hubs are more robust AND is a different lug pattern than 99-04.
Also depending on if its DRW OR SRW, the DRW front hubs are course thread for the adapter to bolt on.

While the 05 and later hubs are definitely more robust, they’re the same 8x170 lug pattern. DRW has 8x200 thanks to the adapter

They had to go up in size for the hubs and brakes to meet the 2,400-2,500lb increase in F-350 carrying/towing weight as we probably all already know. Brake rotor size pushed the need for the 17" wheel. F-250 just along for the ride.

F250 is definitely along for the ride. It cracks me up that the 250 and the 350 are, except for the badges and rear spring lift block, the same truck.

Unless Ford has started putting different springs on them. But through 2010 they were the same truck, just different ratings 😂
