First time painter. Restoring 65 f100, and decided to paint it myself as a learning experience. Oh how it has been an experience. Unfortuately, did not come across the information in the FTE forum "step by step paintwork" beforehand. Lots of good information. Anyhow, painted the truck in akylic enamel approx. 1 year ago. In meantime, paint problem surfaced,not sure if solvent pop but small bubbles surfaced in couple of areas. Over past couple of months sanded 320 and repainted about 2 weeks ago. i was going to color sand using 2000 wet/dry, and then i read about this clear coat that should have been applied at the time of the color coat. My question is whether the clear coat is necessary, and if so can it be applied at a later date. i do not have suitable painting facilities w/ winter setting in. i could finish putting truck together and rent a booth if nec.
