As a kid by the time I was nine dad tought us the important rule of tire maintenance and flat repair using Vulkenizing see attached, while others used the newer mostly unworthy methods glue patches. Most bikes of the 60's had a pair of "vise-grips" clamped on for

emergencie repairs.
