help with heater blower

My blower motor doesn't work, and I need some advice.

My truck is a 77 Ranger XLT with factory air. The blower motor has squeaked for quite a while but their such a pain to get to I put off working on it for as long as possible.

Well, Friday it quit working all together so I thought it was as good a time as any to replace it.

I now have the new one installed but guess what, it doesn't work either. It was a new one, but I did check it before I installed it and it did work. I cannot find any fuses blown to be causing the problem.

I did notice when I pulled the old blower motor that it turns fairly hard. This would have put a pretty good load on the system before I replaced it.

Is there relay or something that could have burned out? If so, where is it and how do I check it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

there should be a fan relay under the dash, below the glove box

Mine was even more simple, the fan worked off and on then finally quit, i VISUALLY checked the fuse and it looked ok, later I pulled it out and the end fell off, the solder came loose in the fuse cap, I will ALWAYS pull a fuse to check it from now on, GOOD LUCK

I had already located the relay, just wasn't sure that's what it was. Replaced relay, problem solved.

Thanks for all the help.
