Jacking point

Where is a good spot to place a floor jack on a 4WD F250 for the front tires? Is it OK to jack it up on this part that connects to the front axle housing?

I use the Radius Arm point at the axle when I jack mine up to rotate the tires. I use a bottle jack

Radius arms are the best for tires, they'll compress the springs a bit so you don't need to jack the truck as high to get the tires off the ground.

Thank you very much everyone!!! So that part is called a radius arm? I learn something every day!

On my old Mustangs I put the floor jack right under the rear axle housing below the center section. Is that a good place for jacking the rear of these trucks for tire changes so both rear tires can be done at one time?

I do not place the floor jack under the differential. The jacking points that are shown in the posted image are what I use. I don't use the end of the radius arm closest to the frame, but I do use the one towards the axle.

You're never supposed to jack the truck up by the pumpkin, too much weight to focus there.

Manual should show the proper jacking points.

Probably a silly question but on the rear jacking points is that right under the leaf spring pack?

x2 - so tempting as it is so easy and just hanging out there saying place the jack here ...... but you should avoid it.

OK, thanks. I'll just put the floor jack near the end of the axle tube on each side. I guess '69 Mustangs are light enough to be able to just jack the rear end under the center section.

Jacking the rear by the diff housing has been done for generations. You'll be fine.

I've lifted the front/rear ends of many cars by the pumpkin. Then it cost me half of the differential case on an independent rear suspension.

I now use factory recommended lift points.

Independent rear is a no go. Traditional rear diff is fine to jack on the pumpkin. Never had a problem in 20 years and literally thousands of trucks. Mfg. recomended jack points are for using the jack that comes with the vehicle. I will add that anytime you use a floor jack to lift from the pumpkin always use jack stands under the frame rails for safety. It is much safer to lift each corner independently, and that is the stance the mfg. will take due to liability. The important thing if an aftermarket jack is used, is to make sure that it is rated for the weight of the vehicle.
