I see that these trucks come with 17's on the base models, but I'm wondering if all aftermarket 17" wheels will fit, or if there is a minimum backspacing/offset requirement to clear the brakes?
I'm not a fan of 18"+ wheels and more expensive tires (and less size/brand options). I know eventually I will go aftermarket, so I'd like to step down to 17's when I do.
I am planning on 17s with 37s, and in my research I have not found anything that specifies any particular limitations. Even lift manufacturers like BDS and Carli recommend 17" wheels with ~5" of backspacing, and that is largely because any higher seems to increase chances of rubbing on the radius arms.
it is actually pretty hard to find more backspacing than that on most wheels without going custom, so I'd imagine you should be fine.
Carli: "Recommends 17" wheels no more than 9" wide with 5" backspacing."

BDS: "17x9 and 4.5 to 5" backspacing."

Yes, thanks! I guess I'll just order them when I'm ready. What's the worst that will happen,...I have to take them back? (A friend of mine runs a custom automotive fab shop and can get anything)
I think the stock 17" steelies on the XLs look good. I saw a post on here with someone that put 35" MTs on them and they looked great. But, again - not enough negative offset is the issue with these and much larger tires.
Good Thread.
When I was a kid 17s were big wheels, tires were even bigger.
Im liking the look, don’t see it much anymore but it looks tough. I have never changed a set of rims on a car or truck but those methods though.
I know this pic is a Jeep but my F250 is black so that’s why the picture, kinda Smokey and the Bandit feeling no?
