I recently purchased an NV 4500 for my 1969 4x4 crew. I also ordered an adapter from advance adapters that goes from NV4500 to ford bell housing. They said I needed a bell housing 6-1/4" deep with an index diameter of 4.848" Does anyone know where to get that type of bell housing? In searching the forum I know some of you out there have done this swap. Do you have any pointers?
Orich You have an NV4500 on a 416 which I assume is an FE with some bore and stoke combination what did you do for a bell housing?
I am currently running a 429 but at some point will probably install a 428 so that I have the original FE style engine. I believe that is a different bell housing also ?
Thanks
David
Looks like you need a Mustang 390 top loader/T-10 bell housing for the 6 1/4" depth from a little bit of research I did. The truck one seems deeper, so the easiest solution is a Quick Time bell housing as the originals are most likely unobtanium unless you can find one from a Mustang place. You can also source from Modern Drivelines, American Powertrain, Summit, etc.
