I have a 90 F150 4.9L. the engine turns over, but wont start. I have replaced the fuel pump relay, and the ignition control module, neither have helped. A friend said it might be the coil or coil pickup, and suggestions or tips?
If no spark, could be. I'd probably suspect the pickup before the coil. With a non running engine the first thing to check is spark, fuel, and compression. Find which is missing or wrong, and go from there. No spark, start with the plugs and start working back.

If you have spark it might be fuel. Mine wouldn't start because of fuel. When you turn on you key do you hear the fuel pump start up for a few seconds. I had to change the fuel tank selector switch on the dash. I found this out only after I had checked everything else. If the switch is bad the fuel tank gauge registers fine but the fuel pumps don't work. I checked it by jumping across with a wire.
