Diagnostic test connector

I have a 1985 carborated Ford F150 XL Explorer and can't find the diagnostic self test connector. I've looked and looked where I think it's supposed to be, inside the engine compartment, near the firewall on the drivers side, or by the fender, but I can't find it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Only the I-6 & 302 had computer controls (feedback carb).

The connectors are near the battery & vacuum reservoir(s) and look like this:

I believe they also had a 351w with a 2bbl feedback carb. What I am not sure of, is if that combo was offered in a truck or Bronco. Not sure if all 351w's were HO's with the 4bbl.

Diagnostic test connector

Maybe you're right. Just by reading my Haynes book and looking on line it keeps telling me how I should be able to get trouble codes by hooking up an old school volt meter with a needle. I even bought a high end code reader that reads obd1 codes but for the life of me can't find were to test.

With more info on the engine size we might be able to help more. You can also look at the sticker on the radiator support, it should say EECIV if you have a test port.

Diagnostic test connector

Oh, sorry guys I thought you were done helping. I'm not used to people being so helpful. I'm 99.9% sure it's a 351 Windser.

You will not have a test connector, no computer in that truck,.. . That is a Holley and it is non feedback.

And the distributor had a vacuum advance can on it.

So now that we know you can't pull codes why did you want to, what is it doing or not doing?
