Heater function control cable & cam problem...

I am solving a problem of not having hot air(heat) on 1987 3.0L Aerostar under aother topic right now but I have one more problem that needs to be taking care of before cold winter in the rockies. Please help me.

Here are my problems and some info:
1. Heater function control cable is completely missing

2. Cam (where the cable is attached) is missing

3. Vent and defrost (also Mix setting) is not working properly. It seems that air is only coming from main ducts.

4. Fan setting (high to low) is working properly

5. Temperature control cable is attached and working properly

6. Ford does not have the function control cable (they said it does not make it any more...Doh!)

7. Also the cam as well (Doh!!)

8. When I move the function **** up and down, the part where the cam is suppose to be attached does move (this T shape plastic part does move up and down). But no air from vent or defrost setting

9. When I do the #8, a little motor?? does push the vaccum??? up and down located behind the main duct where the air is coming from... This little thing I don't know what is does... I can't seem to find out the name or what it does on Repair Manual...

My question is this. Since Ford does not have the parts... Do you think I am completely out of luck? or is there still a chance to fix the problem? I tried to play with the part where the cam is supposed to attached so that I can open the vent / defrost setting permanently but it was not successfull...

Any suggestions or comments is greatly appreciated.

check for used parts through a junkyard, or search for used parts on the internet. ebay sometimes has parts, and many auto yards can be searched through a used parts web site. i got some stuff that way last year, shipped right to the house. meanwhile it seems you should be able to block the door in the heater plenum somehow so all you get is hot air..? ... rick

Is this what you are looking for? If so, better hurry auction ends soon but with no current bids you could probably email the seller to arrange a private sale.
