Vin Id help
I do see the 4th letter is a H which means 390. The next letter Is a R Which means built in San Jose ca I believe. But the next letter in the vin is D...on other vins I looked up it's a number not a letter. What does the D Mean?

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.
D03941 = 1968 (1968 serial number range: C00,001-D82,000).
1961 thru 1980, the last 6 digits of the 11 digit VIN is the Serial Number (aka Numerical Sequence of Assembly), decodes to the year.
This applies to all trucks, Econolines (introduced 1961) and Bronco's (introduced in 1966). FoMoCo Passenger Cars use a different 11 digit VIN sequence.
Serial Number: 1961/66 is 6 numbers, 1967/77 is a letter followed by 5 numbers. 1978/80 is two letters followed by 4 numbers.
1981 thru today have a 17 digit VIN
