I've worked on a few over the years (just happened to be where a few movies were being shot locally ) they were basically junk yard ready vehicles with fifty foot paint jobs. Even Scheib did better paint and body work for $19.99. They would bring them to me to make them 'kind of' pass state inspection. The nicer ones are rented from small companies that specialize in movie cars.

Here is the Duck Truck from the TV show Victorious a 53 might be F250?. Snipped from YouTube.
He got in the passenger side to drive so I was studying closely, then I noticed the lettering was backwards. Someone reversed the video when they uploaded.

A moving ending explained for Castaway just happened to be on the side panel.
Here is another shot of the Castaway 53.
Here is the video which shows the truck a lot.

Edit: I just realized I watched an 8 minute video and hardly heard a word he was saying. Too focused on the truck.

Question: Is that 53 a OHV 6 or a flat 8? When it pulls away it sounds like neither. Was it a Hollywood sound track or a transplanted engine?

Even in the 60's and 70's the 53-56 F100 trucks were popular, so they were a bit more costly. The larger trucks were practically given away by then, by comparison, and more affordable for tv/movie people.

Banacek (George Peppard) drove a black Packard Darrin Convertible in the show, but I wonder how many people noticed that one was a 1941, while the other was a 1942.
Two different filming location (CA & MA), two different Darrin's. The only difference is the side grilles.
