Ok, as usual, the ADD bug combined with the uncertainty of when we would be in our new digs helped me procrastinate on ordering this truck. As a result I found one on the lot and bought it. It is an F-550 XL, 4x4, 168" WB, 6.7, 4.30 limited slip, power equipment group (option, whatever), running boards, 40 gal fuel tank, high capacity tow package, cruise control, and, get this, a "Clean Idle" decal. That's got to be good for at least 20 hp, right? Anyway, this truck, for whatever reason, does not have a trailer brake controller. I find that pretty strange that a truck equipped like this wouldn't come equipped with that option. I'll have them add it before i pick it up. The upside is I saved the company about $8k by not ordering the Lariat. But, I am not driving much anymore so all is good. The bed is getting put on today and hopefully we will have it by the end of the week.
Picked it up today. Rides like a tank but feels really tight. This truck has the 4.30's and is turning about 21-2200 RPM's @ 70 mph. We should have the logos and DOT #'s on it by Friday afternoon. Can't wait to hook up the 40'er and see how it pulls. One thing that shocked me is how sharp this thing will turn. Feels damn near 90 degrees (I know it's not, but feels close.) Hope to put it to work next week.
