I installed a Crime Stopper SP-502 in my truck shortly after I bought it, but it was more for the key fob to operate power locks and the remote start. It does have 2 way paging capabilities, but I don't utilize them. Reason I went with that specific model was there was a great writeup for a 2000 F250 that I found on google. If I was purely looking for anti-theft though, I'd go for the kill switch.
I'll also share a dirty little secret... I've been a cop for many years all over the state of PA, and ZERO of the departments I've worked for, with, or near had Lo-Jack. Lo-Jack is only useful in huge cities like NY, LA, Chicago, Trenton, etc. Most police departments now only look for stolen vehicles by way of license plate readers.
have you verified distance traveled with valve closed or you speculating?
Verified. Maybe not EXACTLY 100 yards, but I forgot to turn it on one time and it warmed up for a minute or two and drove out down the road before dying.
I've got a ball valve in my fuel line. If I close the valve, it will start and drive about a hundred yards or so before dying.
Thankfully we can do that on our trucks... not the case on a Cummins, if you run them out of fuel you have to start opening lines at the head and bleeding out all the air! Though, this could be an even better theft prevention method if you could always always always remember your ball valve

One thing I'll add- the time I drove off was when I had a regulated return system on my truck. It's now a stock system to pass smog in CA.
Simply stated my job is to fix broken electrical stuff. As a master electrician I can tell you that electronic stuff breaks,.... a lot. I would recommend one or two toggle switches placed in hidden spots, apart from each other, as an effective anti theft deterrent. Cheap and reliable.
Using relays/devices that stay energized to keep your vehicle running and that could possibly fail and kill your truck while crossing the tracks, passing a big rig on the freeway or pulling out on the street in front of a line of fast moving teenagers is not a great idea.
The idea of allowing the rig to start and die soon after is interesting.
I've seen alarms with proximity alerts that will speak if your get too close or touch the car. Pretty cool stuff but I'm not a thief so I don't know if they care about that stuff or not.
I remove the dptuner selector switch when I am worried about my truck getting stolen. Unless they know what it is it should be pretty safe, except from tow trucks. I suppose a good pager alarm would help for that.
