I pulled a stuck semi out of the ditch with my Ram 1500. Just hook up the tow strap and keep taking runs at the end of it till it was out.
Only pulled it a few inches at a time, but give it 40 or 50 tugs and tada...

 

its not as difficult as you would think...

a good 50hp farm tractor could do the same thing.. its traction.. and gearing.

 

I hear you, but does not an 18-wheeler have a whole lot more gearing than F-250?

If the F-250 tranny is an automatic, I wonder what temps the fluid was subjected to in this effort?

 

Well the the ford is only assisting. The truck is definitely under it's own power as the drive axle does start to slip. Its really not that impressive once you have seen or done it first hand. Its even less impressive when you see a AWD explorer police interceptor pulling a swift truck from i80 to the off ramp at Applegate in a snow storm with nothing more than a slinky strap.
