front and rear sway bars

front and rear sway bars
Hi, I just joined.
I have a '72 f250 camper special with a 360/ C6.
I was rambling in a local PickNPull getting parts for my Bronco II-- I noticed that a 1990? Diesel F-250 had some meaty sway bars front and back.
They'd cost $30 apiece- a deal compared to new ones! But I'm not sure they mount exactly onto my existing I-Beam coils? It looks possible?
I'd like to add sway bars, as I will be mounting a 1300-lb camper on the bed.
----
Also hope to change over to a NV4500 transmission someday........
What kind of mileage does a 360- C6 get? I've never driven the truck yet........
Thx, Jeff

I can't speak for the front, but the rear will probably not bolt up if the 1990 has the Sterling rear axle. The pinion is offset towards the passenger side so the factory bar is not symmetric right and left. The brackets also mount directly on the differential casing and not the axle tubes. I just installed a Sterling on my 1970 F250 and was able to use the late(r) model bar on mine. It actual was a pretty painless install. I did find a 1990 Bronco at the pick and pull and that bar would probably fit a Dana 60 pretty well and it mounts to the axle tubes. I installed the Adco bar in the front of mine but will replace that when I swap to the 1978 front axle assembly I found at the boneyard since it seems to attach and fit up a little better. Below is a picture of the Sterling rear bar and you can see it is offset towards the passenger side. I have barely driven the truck since I installed the Sterling about a week ago but the rear bar seems to have made a big improvement. I intend to use my truck for a travel trailer and the rear bar should help with stability.

Welcome to the forums.
On my F100's I put Addco sway bar on the front to help with cornering.

Likely not big enough for a F250 if loaded down. It really helped my trucks with trying to rub the door handles off just making corners in town.

Sway bars
Ford F-250 Camper Specials once came with a kit that was a front bar that mounted between the radius arms and a rear bar that clamped to the axle tubes. I bought them back in 73 and mounted them on my 68, I still have the rear one mounted and the with CV clip it also has one. Needless to say they really tightened up the suspension and the truck handled well.

I bought a '68 CS in '71 and the first thing I did was add sway bars after being blown around in the Mojave Desert wind. I have Hellwig front and rear. I have a 3.73 rear end and 33" tires and with the overhead camper I got 9-10 mpg driving 60 mph on the highway. I had a 360 then went to a 390 then to a 460 and they all got the same mileage.

Dunderberg i know that the rear diff. in a 3/4 ton is bigger than a 1/2 ton. but you might want to check the rear sway bar on your Bronco II. i found out when i put a rear sway bar on my 67 f-100. it was a bolt on deal.i had to drill out two holes on the frame where the front of the bar comes up to meet the frame.

Sway bar
The sway bars I purchased was late in 73 from the local Ford dealer. I had to mount the rear bar under the housing because of the shock absorber location. I made some link rods with heim joints and mounted them forward of the axle on the frame. I had to drill 9/16” holes in the radius arms for the front.
