I know this is an older thread, but I am having some similar issues. I have the h bracket and spring both installed correctly but there is excess slop that allows the caliper to move and spring to come out which then allows the bracket to fall out. Any ideas?
Well, if it can move so far as to let the spring and bracket fall out, that's obviously WAAYYY out of spec!
As you already knew of course.
Got a picture you can share? Is this a new caliper on the old caliper bracket? New hardware, or old?
I don't suppose you still have the old stuff laying around to compare to, do you? That would tell you where the discrepancy lies. If the calipers are different, then they either sold you the wrong one, the new ones are crap (probably true no matter what), or this one has been "cleaned" up a few too many times.
If it's just the hardware that's different, maybe there is another brand/model you can get that fits better.
If the old ones fit the same however, and were giving you the same trouble, then the only thing left is the caliper bracket. I still have a hard time imagining these robust things "spreading out" but I suppose anything is possible anymore!
