Any recommendations? Normal use truck, more of a grocery getter than anything else these days and is a second vehicle that gets used about once a week for short trips.
I did see that most of the big three auto parts stores have 20% off with some limitations.
Doesn’t Johnson Controls manufacturer a high percentage of store-branded batteries? My advice is to NOT buy an Optima battery. It is WAY overpriced and just marketing hype.
If you can swing the extra $$ for one, get an AGM battery. ‘Advanced Glass Mat’ batteries have their internals engineered differently than your typical lead acid batteries. They are able to handle increased vibration, plus other benefits. AutoZone sells them and I’m sure others do as well.
There are only a few battery makers in the country who make all the batteries. I used to work for NAPA corporate and we handled Excide, who makes a lot of different brands. We switched to East Penn Manufacturing who make Deca as well. The company wide rate of defects fell from 8% to 1%. That is a lot. Johnson Controls also makes a very good battery. They make Interstate and several other brands. Prior to NAPA switching I bought interstate even though I could buy NAPA at 10% over cost. Just wasn't worth the failure rates to save the money. If you are going lead acid avoid Exide. You should google each brand, but I believe Walmart and Advanced are Excide, Autozone is Johnson Controls.

Besides Deca (which I've heard good things about) is there a way to tell what other batteries East Penn Manufacturing markets?
