What would it do to my truck if i cut the muffler out and put pipe in its place that is smaller then the factory pipe. Factory pipe is 2" and the new pipe is approx 1.5". Would going to a smaller pipe cause irregular back pressure or funny sound or what. Need help here. If it helps, its a 2.3L ranger.
Well you would notice a bit less power. Why are you going to remove the muffler and put a smaller pipe? I cannot follow your logic here. Until I figure out your plan, I am at a loss
Did you replace the muffler with the pipe yet? If so let us know how it turns out. Maybe if it's to loud a resonator my do the trick.
I have a 2.3L aswell with a two foot cherry bomb and cat.
I once took the pipe off from where my cat was and it was dam loud. It didn't sound good at all. I'm thinking about taking out my cherry-bomb and putting a resonator on instead
yeh, i replaced it. It is very loud and grumbly. Not a smooth deep sound. Thats why i ordered a straight through muffler, to smooth out the deep sound.
Its one of those mufflers that you see hangin out of the back of small cars, the big canister type. Its a 5Zigen fireball muffler. Im gonna mount and weld it right underneith my rear bumper. I think it will be cool because i have only once ever seen another ranger with the canister exhaust under the bumper. That and its more legal then straight pipe.
