1987 ford ranger

Hello, recently I was installing a stereo into my 1987 ford ranger and a wire grounded in the steering system while the truck was running. Currently there is no power to the starting system after the incident but everything from the stereo to the door dinger still works. I checked the fuses and they are all ok. Any thoughts or suggested tests I should run or possible fixes? Thanks for the help.

There are several fuse links in the wiring and you must have blown one. Refer to the wiring diagrams in the link above. Depending on where you got power for the stereo, you can trace back to a fuse link.

Plus 1 to what ranger pat said, the positive battery cable & 4 of the fuse links are connected to the starter relay. A bad link will have crinkled insulation.
