4wd not working properly
I have had my 2004 Ford Expedition for almost a year now, and was driving on snow in Virginia before moving to LA.
The switch to 4H or 4L was smooth and didn't give me any issues back then. I recently changed all my brake pads and the front discs, and since then I have a hard time understanding what the problem is.
Basically, it feels like the car is softly braking automatically when I switch to 4H or 4L and I try to drive, and it is making a creaking or low pitched squeak, as if the breaks were applied, when I try to move forward. The problem seems to be coming form the front axel, but to be determined.
I am afraid to try and accelerate, or drive a little to se if this goes away. It's the only way I can go to work and if somthing brakes, I'll be in a difficult position.
Any suggestions or help on the matter? Anything would help, I love my car and would like to take very good care of it.
Thank you,
Matt
No idea about the u-joints, but that's something to explore, thanks for the tip.
I'm not sure it comes from there though, as it is really creaking rather than sounding like crickets...
Any more idea?
