oiling system on 89 BII
Hello,
I picked up this 89 recently with a 2.9 engine, and have been going thru the normal steps. Changed plugs (they were wrong, the gap was over .01 larger, the threads were about twice as long as nec. luckily, this guy didn't crank down on the plugs), filters, oil, etc. Anyway, the other day I finally felt comfortable enough to warm it up to run KOEO test (no codes, just system pass!!) well, to the point.. once it warmed up it started chattering like the lifters were clacking. Is this common with these engines with high mileage (157000 plus). Could it just be gummed up? Has anyone ever used motor flush before? I have no desire to put a lot into this motor, I'll eventually buy a rebuilt, but I want it to last, if possible. Any thoughts are appreciated,
