I HAVE A 2002 FORD EXCURSION V10 2WD. THE HEADLIGHTS ,RUNNING BOARD LIGHTS AND RADIO TURN THEMSELVES ON AND OFF WHILE THE TRUCK IS PARKED, NOT RUNNING AND NO KEYS IN IT. I WAS TOLD ITS WAS THE VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE SO I REPLACED IT. WHICH WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM BECAUSE FORD UPDATED IT TO THE 2005 EXCURSION MODULE ( WHICH REQUIRES YOU TO CHANGE THE FRONT DOOR AJAR SWITCH BECAUSE THE POLARITY IS BACKWARDS ON THEM). SO AFTER ALL THIS I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM . ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT . THIS IS A WELL MAINTAINED TRUCK 130000 MILES ON IT , JUST REPLACE THE BATTERY TOO.
Is there any signs of water intrusion in the area of the GEM or main under dash fuse box? These wagons are known to sometimes develop leaks around the windshield that can let water get into those electrical centers and cause all sorts of demonic possession.
Could it be a failing GEM module? Still have the factory windshield or has i been replaced? Ive seen numerous Lexus cars come through the shop with electrical gremlins all because of improperly installed windshields. Water gets in and corrodes a connector causing all sorts of backfeeds and unintended grounds. Im unsure where the junction boxes in our Excursions are just yet, but start looking for any signs of water intrusion on electrical connectors.
I would also check the door sensors. Both of my rear hatch sensors were bad. I put a fuse in the connector for now so that the lights stay turn off when I shut the doors.
