Hello all, What size pushrods are you guys using. I have a deck height of 10.322" I believe ( Motor out of a 77 Lincoln ) and I am using DOVE C heads. I have had my pedastals milled and I am using cranes roller rockers & guide plates. I know George say to check pushrod length to be sure, but with adjustable roller rockers thats a little bit difficult. I mean I have no idea where to start. Thanks for the input.
If you have an old pushrod, cut it in two and tap both ends. Then put some threaded rod in there and screw them together.
Use any type of light spring to replace the valvespring for this test. Adj the rocker and roll the motor over, what you are looking for is the rocker arm to start at one edge of the valve and slide across to the other side of the valve as it goes through cycle. If your rod length is wrong, the rocker arm will not slide side to side, but rather be off one side and slide to the centre.(for example)
Adj the length until you get a clean sweep on the valve. Each engine is a bit different due to machining.(valve job etc) This will show you what YOU need.
