4x4 4speed

I got this 4x4 chassis I'm going to put under my 70 f100 and was wondering what the shift pattern is on this trans? it feels like 1st up to left and reverse down to right, these 2 gears engage farther than the other 3, is this correct? the shift in my f100 has reverse to the upper right.
also does anybody know where the front shocks mount, they are dangling with no bracket below them.

The tranny sounds like a NP435. Reverse - to the right/down and it almost hits the seat. Granny first - to the left and up and it almost hits the dashboard.

That dangling shock might mount to a radius arm bracket.

4 speeds

NP-435 4 speed has reverse to right and down, T-18 4 speed had to the right and up. There were both in these trucks, I have/had one of each.

They both are good transmissions. One of them has a lower first gear, I can't remember which one. Be careful though, the 4 wheel drive version is different in that there is no provision for the speedometer cable, as is it is in the transfer case.

The T-18 I know had Rev. both up and down. They changed it at some point. I think later, not real sure. Anyhow, the NP435 will have an aluminum top cover and the T-18 will be cast iron. The NP435 is slightly lower in 1st. If memory serves correctly, 6.69 compared to 6.62 or thereabouts. If you have the 2wd version, you could always run a divorced t-case. I don't think the tranny mount points are different between the 2wd and the 4wd (at least on the F250s-not sure about the F100s).

well it appearss to be the np435, it has the divorced transfer case so I'll leave it all that way unless it has a problem.
