I can no longer use a mobile device to enjoy and participate on this site.
I can and so can you. Because phones sacrifice everything for size I just use their hotspot function then browse on my also-mobile small notebook. I prefer NOT to use my phone for browsing anyway because I don't want driveby malware infections.
Phones have pathetic tiny screens which no matter how many dpi they have will remain pathetic and tiny. Phone operating systems are locked down by the maker to force feed (expletive deleted) to customers. That won't change. Once we accept what we cannot have we can work around the obstacle.
On my old Thinkpads (durable, large user community and so cheap I've several scattered conveniently) I run a variety of browsers but mostly use locked-down Firefox for business, and less locked but not stock Chrome for trifles or if my preferred FF addons cause problems with a particular site.. I see so few adverts I'm unused to the level most users deal with. I block, block, then block some more. Hosts files work nicely and are easy to download and paste into place. See any computer forum for how to lock down your operating system.
When/if Linux phones go mainstream it will be a joy to be rid of Andrhoid (spelling intentional!). I don't do Apple because my computers (smart phones are computers) are tools and I require a MicroSD card for instant swapout when I break a phone.
