Sync/Iphone/Maps

Is it normal for there not to be a map come up on the home screen when my iphone is plugged into the USB port?
If it's not plugged in, I have a map.

You can turn off CarPlay and get your map back but of course then lose CarPlay.

That's disappointing.....It's probably not as easy as fixing with FORScan I am guessing.

That`s because the SYNC system thinks you want to use CarPlay so it passes control over to CarPlay. You can either turn CarPlay off or use Bluetooth.

That's what I will try. How do I plug the phone into the usb port without it wanting to take control?
Would I have to charge from one of the accessory ports?

Remove/delete CarPlay from your phone.

You can go into Sync settings, Apple car play and then you can disable for devices that are registered there.
