I had read so many complaints about this issue that before my truck arrived I had this $35 ($30.98 right now) solution sitting in my garage:
Curt Manufacturing 45408 Reducer Sleeve Set Curt Manufacturing 45408 Reducer Sleeve Set

At the same time you can add a hitch pin to your order for $4.26:
Curt Manufacturing 21507 Heavy-Duty Hitch Pin and Clip Curt Manufacturing 21507 Heavy-Duty Hitch Pin and Clip

The reducers have tabs that keep the holes aligned. They fit great and are foolproof to use. I towed my 9000 pound trailer 50 miles last week using my Equal-i-zer hitch with a 2" shank.

Because my truck was a special order and never sat on the lot, I got the 3"- 2 1/2" reducer and a hitch pin but I can see how trucks just sitting on the lot might have their sleeves and pins swiped. It would take about 1 second. I keep mine locked up in the truck when not in use.

because theres no lip on the 2.5.-2 inch sleeve it slides in/past the pin hole when you insert anything into the receiver...its a complete PIA!
My 18 F350 ame with a 2.5-2 inch receiver and it has the lip. That said I bought an adjutable bullitproof hitch with the 2.5 inch shank so I do not need to bother with the sleeve.

JD'sBigredV10, just to be clear, this Curt adapter WILL work with the factory Ford installed receiver? Like others have said, trying to put 2" hitch in is a pain in the rear.

Yes, I have the Ford 3" receiver.

There are tabs on both the 2 1/2' and 2" sleeves so that when they are both fully pushed in, the holes on the hitch and both sleeves align. A little wiggle of the pin and it slips right through.

I can't imagine the weight of an Equal-i-zer hitch head with a 3" shank. For the minimal price of these sleeves, I much prefer to keep using my current setup. I also have a few different drop and adjustable hitches with 2" shanks. As I upgrade hitches, I will probably go with 3" shanks for convenience but for now, I see no reason to ditch the equipment I already own.

Agreed. $30 bucks compared to several hundred $$ to swap the few I have in 2" makes more sense to me. Thanks for the help.

That's really funny.

Because I'm a fat ******* and my four boys like to bike, then I do to.

We haul the bike rack on the back of the fifth wheel, then transfer it to the 450. So we're often monkeying with sleeves in the dark.

I'm just bitching, really.

Not that tough. Just put your hand behind the sleeve you are using. I put the sleeve in first, then put whatever hitch and hold the sleeve from the rear. Works every time

Yep, that's the one. When I was looking that was the ONLY one I could find. It was kind of a gamble but I'm happy with it.

From the Owner's Manual:

Hitch components (If Equipped)
The following components are required. Some are provided in certain vehicles.
• A trailer hitch with a 3 inch receiver and 5/8 inch hitch pin rated to tow up to 21,000 lb (9,525 kg).
• A hitch pin sleeve stored in the glove box to be used when mounting the 3 inch drawbar.
• A clevis pin to help keep the hitch pin in place.
Did you even get the hitch pin? If not, I say you got screwed.

I read that the new receivers are integrated into the frame and 'extend a distance' within the frame so that weight distribution setups are not necessary...or is this just for the 6.2s?
