Anyone have this problem?

I've owned my 2014 F250 for about a month now. I leave home about 0530 hrs and make the 30 mile drive to work. I take an hour leave and run some errands in the local town.

As I'm leaving Target I hit the remote start and hear a racket under the hood. I kill the engine. I start up again and the racket, which sounds like the engine is seizing, occurs again.

I open the hood and see what looks like cat fur everywhere. I then realize that one of my two kittens decided to take it easy in my engine bay and stayed there all the way to work and I suppose during work. I didn't hear any meowing from the cat with the engine off and surprised it didn't escape while I was at work.

I'm assuming the racket was the cat getting caught in the fan blades. Unfortunately I still haven't had the opportunity to clean out the mess in the engine bay.

I'm not looking forward to it.

Yuck! I'd run the truck over to the do-it-yourself carwash and using low pressure spray, clean the guts out..... do it soon, otherwise you'll start to smell cooked and then rotten cat under there...

Happened to me a few times actually. Three times they stayed in the fan shroud, this last time one got caught under the belt, causing it to slip off. I spray eucalyptus oil in the engine bay as it's supposed to keep them away. I've gotten into the habit of checking the engine bay before I start it up.

Before anyone asks: I have cats because I live on a ranch.

Good idea about the eucalyptus oil.
I have cats to kill moles and gophers on my property.

I've got a bunch of feral cats in the hay stack. Won't let you pet them or pick them up.
I felt bad for them one winter and put some food out, Now they just hang around and come sit on my deck.
Luckily they have not learned how to get into my garage

I finally had a chance to get under the truck and pull what was left of the cat out. It was wedge under the fan blades and I noticed that 4 of blades were broken in half.
I think what happened was that the dead cat kept the fan blades from moving so once I removed the cat the engine vibrates really bad which I assume is due to the unbalanced fan blade.

Now I've got to replace the fan blade which I'm not looking forward to. If I could disable the fan blade I could drive it to a shop to have it done.

Now I'm wondering why the engine vibrates so much with 4 broken fan blades? Could something else been damaged? If the fan blades weren't turning would the fan clutch be ruined?

Looks like I may have access to remove the fan blade from the top after removing the air box duct work.

It was 4 months old but it was wedged tight enough that I assume the fan blades weren't turning?
I had to get a pair of pliers and really yank on the dead cat to dislodge it.

Crazy. Mine were about that size. They'd be in the fan shroud and try to jump out when the engine was on and just get knocked on the head, back into the shroud. Never suffered any fan damage.
