Hello all! I've got a rough idle on my 88 f350 efi with the 460. Ive replaced the map sensor, fuel and air filter with no positive improvements. Any ideas? Vacuum leak? Poor fuel pump/injectors?
the first step in diagnosing this would be to pull codes. buying an obd1 code reader makes this easier, but it can also be very easily done with a piece of wire or a paper clip.
i am fiscally retentive, so i choose the wire/paper clip method, but i would be the first to admit that counting flashes can be confusing and frustrating.
$20 for the Innova 3145 code reader. $45 for the Motorcraft MAP sensor (RockAuto). Seems to me a code reader would have been the better place to start.
The light doesn’t need to be on for the computer to have codes (active or stored) in the system.
