Cooling System

I have an early 1995 F-350 4X4 Crew Cab. It has the older style cooling system with a radiator with a cap. I want to upgrade to a Mishimoto radiator and an Intercooler. Is there any advantage to changing over to the '95 to '97 cooling system?

The cooling system is really efficient on these, I stayed old school stock as a used degas bottle was out of my budget at the time. There is a new one avail now https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...as-bottle.html

How is the quality of those Mishimoto radiators?

Mine is from 2000 and, that is nearly 20 years ago. Its age worries me with the amount of traveling and miles I am racking on this thing quickly. Spectra (also Chinese made) at my local autos and cost within $50 of it.

So, you have a 4 core radiator and you'll be switching to what I believe is a 3 core. Last I read all the replacements were 3 cores.

Age is what bothers me.

I can buy new side tanks for this and have it rebuilt for about $150.

I had mine pressure tested when I replaced it as my old one had a crack in the brass cap.

It's like 200 dollars in scrap for the old brass cap ones.

I have the separate expansion tank system. Radiator is aluminum with plastic tanks only. Plastic ones always crank on the hot side first.

If brass, I would just have it rodded, resoldered, and get on down the road.

And that's why I'm still running the 4 core brass cap. =)

I modified my cap though by drilling a hole in it so the system doesn't pressurize way to much. Dont' trust the spring and I don't have a pipe bead roller for the cross over I had to make when I put in the International water pump. So its a straight tube down there with hose clamps and it drip drip drips here and there. I should fix it one of these days, but ehh, it's fine.
