I have a 96’ F350 that the engine has been shutting off while I would be driving it. I took it into the dealership and was told it is my PCM and they were having a hard time sourcing one for me. I am super new when it comes to truck maintance and repairs. Any thoughts or guidance....
I asked the dealership and they told me they were unsure if it was the CPS because they were getting different codes. They also pulled my PCM and it has rust and what looked like water damage on the outer casing. Could that water damage have gotten into the PCM?
How many miles on the engine? CPS is the heart beat of the engine, it tells the computer where the cylinders are in rotation. Usually when it starts to go flaky the engine will die for a second or so then everything recovers. In my experience it just got worse and more often. If your CPS is original Ford had a recall on them so ask them about that, it might still be a free replacement.
Just got my truck back from dealership. Had them swap the CPS and it seems to run fine but has a wired idle when it just sits. Is that something I can adjust or do I need to take it back in? Below is a photo of my PCM.
Has anyone ever ordered from the company flagship1, I found one there for about $524.00!
