I disagree on them being junk. If you own one vehicle, and you don't need the extensive electrical diagrams, then the service manual PDFs are solid to have. I also have mine online (dropbox) and find it incredibly useful. $10 well spent IMO. If I had multiple Fords of similar years, or were a shop owner, I would be all over the DVDs.

Both serve a purpose.

The number of vehicles on the dvd is irrelevant. The dvd is better then the pdf because it has more information for any vehicle in question. I have a couple of those pdf's and I think they are garbage.

Outside of the aforementioned electrical diagrams, what extra information does the DVD offer over the official Ford Service Manual? I'm genuinely curious for future use.

It depends. I have the single DVD and double DVD versions. I think the single DVD and the PDF might be the same but the double disc one has everything on it.

I had the hard copy manual from Helm for my F-150. I prefer to have things in print that I can thumb through but having everything at my fingertips is very convenient. You can also make a PDF out of any portion of the digital manual to print out or have on hand for easy reference.

I agree having paper is better, I always print out pages I need from the PDF. I used to buy the expensive HELM manuals, but after getting a number of them trashed with grease/oil it no longer seemed appropriate to buy them.
