Looking for Disc brakes off a 73 to 78 ...
I am looking over the fence from the 1961-1966 F-100 camp. I just bought a 65 and want to convert to disc brakes, but do not want any aftermarket retrofit kit. I'd rather get all parts that cannot be purchased new from someone who has something left over and then buy new rotors, calipers and other parts to complete the set up. Since I am from Germany I cannot just buy a donor truck and take parts off myself. I will get DJM dream beams just in case that this is info needed to help find me the right parts.
Thank you for your help !!!

1973/79 F100 2WD & 1975/79 F150 2WD came standard equipment with front disc brakes.
Manual disc brakes were standard equipment on F100's, power disc brakes were optional, but were standard equipment on the F150's.
Living in Europe makes it tough to find parts for these trucks, but you should get all the parts from one specific truck.
Mixing parts from various years is not the way to go, because there are some differences.

I am looking at this swap for my wife's 65. The research I have done indicates the 73 & 74 are the best years to get the spindles/ knuckles from as the kingpin is the exact same size as the 65. The 75-79 the king pin is the same diameter so it should work, but it is just a bit longer. As I understand it, the spindle determines the kingpin length, so it should still work, but it does add just a bit more having to remember which year the spindles came off in case you ever need to re-do the kingpins. Pretty much what Bill said- keep it as simple as possible if you can.
